I am uncertain whether this should be posted in the American History or the European history forums since it concerns the interchange between the two.
I have been looking for a work that gives a thorough treatment of the imports and export exchanges between the Union and the Britain during the Civil War - or even any treatment at all.
I am interested in how their interests in maintaining trade for their own benefit affected their relations with each other.
About the only subject that ever comes up in the searches about North American trade with Britain during this period are discussions of cotton, a topic that is treated exhaustively in many places, but are irrelevant to what I am looking for.
I didn't find the right solution from the internet. References: http://hi storum.com/european-history/128443-british-trade-union-american-civil-war.html
