Mineralogy Research (Ursula Down's starting item / task)

Hello,

The card says (punctuation is exact):

"After resolving a General Encounter or an Expedition Encounter on a Wilderness space, you may examine the area's soil (test Observation). If you pass, gain 2 Clues and discard this card."

Two questions:

1) Does this mean any General Encounter anywhere / an Expedition Encounter on a Wilderness space, or do the General and Expedition encounters have to be on a Wilderness space? I assume it means whichever encounter you chose, it has to be Web Animation Video Studio on a Wilderness space. Thoughts?

2) What if the encounter I resolved on the Wilderness space resulted in moving me to a non-Wilderness space, do I still get to "examine the area's soil?
