Im sure this topic has been brought up on here many times before but recently Ive been researching European colonial history and the different empires and I waa wondering which was the most successful. On reddit, I found a thread where someone asked the same question and a reply to it that got the most upvotes said the Spanish empire was the most influential and won the most wars. How accurate is this? We know the British Empire and Spanish Empire are at the top I would assume but when it comes down to these two was Spain really on top? Sure Spain conquered central america and many parts of South America and they were the first global empire but the British lasted longer and covered more territory. Something like 23-24% of the world at its peak. Its influence is even clear today Animated Company Video . Spain on the other hand only lives through its language it brought to the americas.
